FAQs

Do you make......

Custom cakes?

You bet. Fill in a custom cake inquiry form to get the process started. 👍🏾

Take me to the form!

Gluten-free cakes?

Yes. There's a checkbox to add a gluten-free option to all of our Signature and Classic Cakes.

Sugar cookies or cake pops?

Nope!

Feel free to serve any of our cakes on sticks, though. (No, we don't sell sticks.)

Sugar-free, dairy-free, egg-free or vegan cakes?

Nope!

Butter is a staple here.

How we do it.

Why does gluten-free cost more?

  1. Gluten Free flour is significantly more costly than our usual flour.
  2. The additional preparation time to decontaminate our tools and work space.

(The same is true pretty much everywhere, and for the same reasons.)

Do you offer delivery?

Yes, we do. Click here to inquire about delivery.

Do I have to order online? Can I just pop by and pick up a cake on a whim?

Online ordering is recommended, but isn't always required. A selection of our Classic cakes and Vintage Heart Cakes are available in store. Signature cakes and Double-Barrel-sized cakes are available exclusively by pre-order online.

While we have these items available in store, ordering online means we'll be sure to have what you want when you want it. (There's a 2-day lead time for DeeperMore Delicious goods, Classic cakes, cookies, cinnamon buns and CheeseWheels.

What happened to the CheeseWheels?

In brief:

It's back! And it'll be bringing friends. Stay tuned.

Do you offer tastings and consultations?

We have a whole shop of tastings.

Swing by and pick up a couple of DeeperMore Delicious, or order them in advance online.

If you need something specific in the tasting realm, fill in the form below for a custom quote and let us know what you're after in the comments.

Heads up: Every one of the cakes that leaves our shop is accompanied by a cake care card.

Caring for your Bolo Cake.

Can I freeze my cake?🥶

Yes!

Our cakes can be frozen for several months if wrapped properly: Double wrap the cake in plastic wrap, then pop that bundled-up beauty in an air-tight container.

Did you know that it is a common thing to save the top tier of a wedding cake to be eaten by the couple on their one year anniversary? Neat, right?!

How do I store my cake?

All of our cakes are stored in the fridge until they are picked up. (We bet our fridge is bigger than yours.)

Your cake can be stored in the fridge for several days before serving. (On the condition that you can keep from eating it yourself that long.)

We insist that our cakes be removed from the fridge 2–4 hours before serving to insure their whippy dippy integrity.

Show your cake some love!

What not to do.

Do not place your BOLO cake near to a heat source (oven, fireplace, a whole bunch of candles, patio heater, furnace vent, etc.) in direct sunlight. It will melt!

Urban cake myth

Cold cake is often mistaken for dry cake. Please remove your Bolo cake from the fridge 2 to 4 hours before serving. Perfection awaits!

Face + Cake + Smash = OUCH!

Bolo tiered/layer cakes are secured with cake boards and dowels. Some decorations are placed in the cake with wires, skewers, or toothpicks. Please exercise caution when cutting your cake or eating decorations.

If your cake has been adorned with fresh flowers, kindly remove them. They are certainly beautiful, but they're not edible.
